



Together to Strengthen Good Governance for Natural Resource Protection, Land Security, and Sustainable Community Livelihoods
During May and June 2026, the Children and Women Development Center in Cambodia (CWDCC) proudly continued its role as a development partner of the Royal Government of Cambodia through closely collaboration with relevant ministries, government institutions, national and sub-national authorities, development partners, and technical agencies. Together, we advanced good governance in land administration, natural resource and fisheries management, strengthened the capacity of community fisheries, improved local livelihoods, and enhanced community resilience to climate change and natural disasters. Throughout this period, CWDCC achieved the following key milestones:
Strengthening Land Governance and Natural Resource Management: In collaboration with the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC), CWDCC joined c-organized a multi-stakeholder consultation forum on land, environment, natural resources, and fisheries. The forum enhanced public awareness and promoted meaningful citizen participation in addressing land and natural resource issues based on the principles of transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.
Strengthening Collaboration for Sustainable Fisheries Management: In partnership with the Provincial Administrations of Kampot and Kep, CWDCC facilitated provincial dialogue forums on fisheries resource management and community fisheries governance. These forums strengthened collaboration among government institutions, local authorities, and community fisheries to promote the sustainable management of fisheries resources.
Promoting Legal Awareness on Fisheries Management: Working closely with the Kampot Provincial Fisheries Administration Cantonment under the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, CWDCC organized community legal dialogue forums to improve understanding of fisheries laws and encourage responsible and sustainable fisheries resource management.
Celebrating World Environment Day: Together with the Kampot Provincial Department of Environment and the Bokor City Administration, CWDCC co-organized the celebration of World Environment Day under the global theme “Climate Justice.” The event promoted environmental awareness and encouraged community engagement in environmental conservation and climate change action.
Welcoming the British Embassy Delegation to Cambodia: CWDCC was honored to welcome Ms. Abigail Fryer, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Cambodia, together with embassy colleagues, on a learning visit to Kampot Province to observe the achievements and impacts of CWDCC’s development initiatives. During the visit, CWDCC facilitated discussions between the delegation and representatives from the Provincial Fisheries Administration, the Preak Thnort Community Fisheries Committee and members, the Women Champion Network, and Coastal Youth Ambassadors. Participants exchanged experiences and lessons learned on sustainable community fisheries development, natural resource conservation and management, women’s leadership and decision-making, disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, community resilience, and the key challenges facing in the coastal community fisheries.
Implementing the “Environment-Friendly School” Campaign: The campaign focused on: – Creating clean, safe, and hygienic learning environments. – Planting trees and increasing green spaces within the school compound. – Improving solid waste management and environmental protection practices. – Encouraging active participation from students, teachers, parents, community members, and local authorities. Beyond improving the school’s physical environment, the initiative helps cultivate environmental responsibility among young people, youth leadership, empowering them to become future leaders with high perspective to protect and conserve the environment for present and future world.
Supporting State Land Registration in Community Fisheries Areas: In collaboration with the Kampot Provincial Administration cantonment and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, CWDCC organized a consultation forum on state land registration within community fisheries areas. The initiative aims to strengthen legal protection of community fisheries, reduce land-related disputes, and support sustainable natural resource governance.
CWDCC believes that strong partnerships among the Royal Government of Cambodia, local authorities, communities, and development partners are fundamental to building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities. By promoting good governance, strengthening responsible natural resource management, community protected areas, and enhancing meaningful citizen participation, CWDCC remains a very highest commitment in working with all stakeholders to create a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future for all communities across the Cambodia.
