BACKGROUND
Children and Women Development Center in Cambodia (CWDCC) is a Non-Profit and local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), based in Kampot Province, and was registered with the Ministry of Interior in 2005. CWDCC’s main approach to development is to empower communities to work collectively to improve the overall well-being of community people, focusing particularly on women and children. Our last strategic program themes are Natural Resources Management and Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Agriculture and Livelihoods, Children and Youth Education at the local schools, Good Governance at the sub-national level, health governance and Gender Mainstreaming. We have a particular focus on supporting the development of eco-tourism in the area.
CWDCC has over 15-year experience in working through a participatory rights-based approach, working with communities, empowering and mobilizing women, especially young women, in leadership roles, particularly in their respective Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), strengthening community structures and solidarity and working in coordination with authorities as well as networking with relevant organizations and agencies. CWDCC as partners with ActionAid Cambodia, UNDP-SGP, GIZ, FFI and PACT Cambodia to support CWDCC’s target community to achieve the overall well-being of community people.

THEORY OF CHANGE
CWDCC’s approach to its work is underpinned by a theory of change, which acknowledges that lasting, positive change can only be achieved by simultaneously addressing needs and issues at multiple levels. This starts with the individual and community and goes through to the enabling environment, from the need for knowledge and skills, to soft capacities like the ability to influence policymakers.
